Delaware Generating Station

Oil-fueled electric generation facilities are part of our Peaking Division, operating, as needed, during peak-demand periods and for load balancing

Delaware Generating Station is operated by Constellation. It is a four-unit, 56 megawatt (MW) oil-fueled electric generation facility located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Constellation owns and operates a number of intermediate and peaking fossil power plants in several states, including Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Illinois. These units are used as needed for peak energy demand periods and load balancing.

Constellation’s culture and business practices make us safety-first. All Constellation generation facilities employ sophisticated emergency response plans to protect public health and safety. Plans are reviewed and approved by state governments and federal regulatory agencies. Emergency planning includes coordination with local and municipal officials, and thousands of volunteers and first responders.

To protect the safety and health of our employees, contractors, customers and communities, we've implemented a number of initiatives to promote safe behaviors both on and off the job.

Constellation has a safety behavior observation program and focused initiatives on areas of high risk. We offer safety training, which is integrated with leadership development programs for supervisors and managers, as well as new employee orientation. And the safety peer group identifies successful pilot programs or new practices that can then be adopted by the entire organization.

Constellation’s power plants pay local real estate taxes every year to support county and township government, area schools, libraries, park districts, and other public services where our plants are located.
